The look of the eyebrows changes the impression of the face and deeply affects the overall facial balance. As a person matures, the eyelids and ends of the eyebrows may incline downwards just a little. This gradual change of the eyebrows can be challenging to cope with as the years pass.By observing a few basic tips, you will easily be able to enhance the overall impression of your face with well-balanced, beautifully shaped eyebrows.
Step 1: Examine your facial proportions
The first step to beautiful eyebrows is a close look at the mirror! Examine the relative positions of the parts of your face, the eyebrow shape, the flow of the eyebrow hair. Change your expression every few seconds to get a more accurate picture. Search carefully for differences between the left and right sides of your face.
Step 2: Determine the optimal shape of your eyebrows.
Once you have examined your face, the next stage is to work on the shape of your eyebrows. Kanebo Cosmetics has developed an original method for eyebrow shaping. This method is easy to follow and serves as a perfect guideline for anyone.
Eyebrow start position : A few millimeters outward from the point just above the inner corner of the eye. (If you have a narrow face with closely set eyes, start your eyebrows on the same line as the inner corners of your eyes to make the eyes appear wider apart.)
Eyebrow arch position : Between the outer edge of the pupil and outer corner of the eye. (If your eyes are close together, move the arch of the brow a bit further outside to create an illusion of space between the eyes.)
Eyebrow end position : Either on the same horizontal line as the beginning of the eyebrow or slightly higher.
Step 3: Trimming
Combing
Always comb before cutting and tweezing. Straighten the flow of the hairs with your eyebrow comb. If you have soft eyebrow hairs, a simple trim will often do.
Cutting
After brushing your eyebrows, cut any hairs that extend past the lower brow line. Next, cut the hairs beyond the upper brow line.
Tweezing
If you need to remove excess hair, tweeze just after a bath or steamy shower. The hairs pluck more easily when hot water opens the pores. Always pluck your eyebrows in the direction of growth.
Remember:
Less is better than more. Before cutting and tweezing, define the desired contours with an eyeliner pencil to avoid overplucking or asymmetric trimming. Comb the hairs first and pluck only if really necessary. Remove a few hairs and carefully check your work in the mirror as you proceed.
Start by carefully removing hair from under the eyebrows. Be careful not to remove too much hair from above the eyebrows or from the inner corners.
If you have coarse eyebrow hairs, they can be difficult to trim with just a comb. After brushing the eyebrows, use eyebrow scissors to cut any hairs extending beyond the brow line.
Step 4: Add to the brow line
Those of you with sparse, thin or pale eyebrows should add to the brow line to render a perfect shape.
First, use an eyebrow comb to straighten the flow of the hairs. Next, draw a careful line with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder from around the center of the eyebrow, keeping a close watch on the flow of the hair. Keep the line suitably light, never too thick, at the contours and the inner corners of the brow. An important rule, for rendering natural-looking eyebrows, is to apply lightly at the inner corner, thicker at the center, and slightly less thick on the outside corner.
The hair of the inner eyebrow may thin slightly as the years pass. A good way to keep a youthful look is to lightly line the inner corners, keeping in mind that the eyebrows should begin a few millimeters outward from the point just above the inner corner of the eye.
Another important point for composing youthful eyebrows is the outer corner. Lower lines here, at the outside, can give off a mournful or worn out impression. Keep the eyebrow in the correct position, carefully obscuring any hints of eyebrow droop.
Once the lines are done, check the appearance above, below, and between the eyebrows. As you blur the contours of the eyebrow as a whole, make sure that the color is most defined at the eyebrow “core,” where the hair is thickest. This will help you render natural eyebrows that will beautifully frame your face.
