Beauty experts everywhere have been mastering the perfectly arched eyebrow for the last decade but a new brow trend is emerging. What’s that? Beauty trend coming out of Korea – the birthplace of BB cream, sheet masks, and facial essence!

Introducing, the straight boy brow

Arch-free, full and only sometimes curved, this new eyebrow shape has been appearing on models, bloggers and beautiful faces all over the ‘Gram.

For ages, Asian beauty standards have championed the straight brow as the ideal.

What’s so good about a straight brow?

Although arched brows can have a strong impact by opening up the eyes and lifting the eye line, they’re also really easy to get wrong.

Despite furiously studying numerous beauty tutorials in the quest to get perfect arches, our brows often end up with arches too high, too far apart, or too thin.

The worst bit about the 90s throwback brows? Arched brows can also age the face and look overly ‘done’. Not great.

Comparatively, straight eyebrows are a lot easier to nail and still offer the groomed, defined look that says ‘luxe but effortless’ rather than ‘they just grew like this’.

It’s a natural-looking shape that can make tired brows appear fuller and thicker, thus resembling how our brows looked when we were younger and instantly making you appear more youthful.

The simplicity of a straight brow also means it’s ideal for the casual or ‘no make-up’ make-up look aka our Monday morning go-to.

Straight Brow Do’s & Don’ts

Start by… brushing hairs in an upwards direction and fill in any gaps with a waxy eyebrow stick, we like, which comes with its own eyebrow spoolie.

When filling in your eyebrows… start by drawing a straight-ish line underneath the brow. It doesn’t have to be dead straight but should cancel out any natural arch from the brow.

Avoid… overlining the top of your eyebrows. This can result in a puffy rather than straight look. Always work from underneath, upwards.

Use… brow gel or eyebrow mascara to lift any downward-pointing hairs, especially at the tail of the brow.

Don’t… go too heavy or thick at the ends – unless you want to look like two slugs have died on your face. For a high-fashion finish, elongate the tail of your brow with a fine brow pen. We love, for drawing tiny hair-like lines at the tips.

Leave… the brow highlighter at home. Perfectly defined brows is not what we’re after.
