Contouring is when you use a matte (read: not shimmery) powder, liquid, cream, or stick product that’s a few shades darker than your skin tone to shade areas you’d like to define or reshape, like your nose, forehead, chin, and cheekbones.

For Heart Face Shapes…

Where to contour:

• Along the sides of your forehead and temples to create balance between the upper and lower half of your face.
• The area directly below your cheekbones, starting from your ears to the middle of your cheeks.
• The very tip of your chin.

Where to highlight:

• Under your eyes in an upside-down triangle shape to brighten them.
• In the middle of your forehead and on the center of your chin.

For Round Face Shapes…

Where to contour:

• On the sides of your forehead and along your temples.
• The area below your cheekbones, starting from your ears to the middle of your cheeks, and then curving down to your jawline.

Where to highlight:

• In the middle of your forehead and on the center of your chin.
• Under your eyes in an upside-down triangle shape to brighten them.

For Square Face Shapes…

Where to contour:

• On the sides of your forehead.
• The area directly below your cheekbones, starting from your ears to the middle of your cheeks.
• Under your jawbone.

Where to highlight:

• In the middle of your forehead and on the center of your chin.
• Under your eyes and along your brow bone to brighten your eye area.

Where to contour:

• Along your hairline and on the sides of your forehead.
